Raiment + Boon

Infectious sisters Deana Wheeler and Dana Garrett are the founders of that adorable boutique in downtown E’town - Raiment + Boon. With Deana heading the creative side of things and Dana on top of the business; these opposite entrepreneurs are able to make the perfect business partners.

Raiment (meaning apparel) + Boon (meaning goods) was initially the vision of Deana. Her first move was to go through her closet for inspiration and from there they went to market to purchase their initial inventory. Early this year, on February 15th they opened their doors to the community. They have carefully curated a boutique that invites you in and allows you space and time to take in the beauty of their products. Everything from the background music to the scent of the candle burning is intentional and chosen to give the community an inviting shopping experience.

“Every piece is curated for this space,” explained Deana.

Similar to our friends (also sisters) at Denizen, this duo only carries quality brands of clothing that they would wear.  One thing we love, is that they even made it a priority to get quality plus size clothing because they say that everyone should have the chance to have beautiful things and feel beautiful.

“We want all women to feel confident, to have something that fits, and is stylish,” said Dana, “we want to be completely inclusive.”

They could have chosen to sell exclusively online, but they were determined to have a brick and mortar shop in the up and coming downtown area, and they have proven to be the perfect fit.

“It’s the only place we wanted to be,” the sisters agreed.

“If people haven’t bought into what we are selling we wouldn’t still be here,” said Dana, “we have been blown away by the support of this community.”

As with any business, the day to day is not easy. They are constantly learning trends, along acquiring a sense for what sells and what doesn’t. A special piece of what Raiment + Boon provides is uniqueness and quality. So, they find themselves ordering pieces that they hope will sell, but the uniqueness of those pieces can prove to be a gamble. They usually only carry a couple items in each size, helping them provide the distinct experience for the customers. However, this means there are times that pieces have sold out an hour after an Instagram post by Deana (yes we’re talking about you green, plaid skirt).

No matter what, when you step inside their store you know that you will walk away with one of the few pieces that they sell, and not risk seeing your shirt or dress all over Elizabethtown. That is one special gift that these sisters give. Also, you will never gamble on quality when you purchase one of their carefully curated pieces. Deana carefully checks the quality of everything that hangs on their shelves. If she opens a box and the quality is not what she hopes for she will return it without a thought. They are not willing to compromise to make the sale. They want to provide the best for their people. And we think they have. Deana and Dana, seem to have provided the best for us, their customers, and themselves by working as sisters, together.
